Cheap! Cheaper! Cheapest Gas!

I paid $2.95 a gallon for regular gas today!

I had to go to Roxboro to do a mystery shop and on the way I found this store about 5 miles west of Oxford on 158. It was an older gas station with a diner type resturant on one side that had gas pumps that still had the numbers spin around as you pumped gas. It was kind of fun. I was reliving days gone by when the pumps weren't digital. It was much easier to hit the even dollar too. No quick jump right at the dollar mark you want to stop. I can never hit that even dollar!

I knew gas was cheaper in Roxboro because it had been reported by WRAL.com a few days ago but I thought I had to go all the way into Roxboro for they cheap price. This place was not that far and worth the difference to drive if you need to fill up. Just a note, gas was cheaper every where I went in Roxboro. I just don't understand how or why they can sale gas so much cheaper than in this area. Actually everywhere is cheaper than here. If anyone can explain this to me, please comment. I would love to hear it.

A bit off topic but sort of not.... I watched Maximum Overdrive last night. One scene in the movie, diesel fuel is being pumped into a big rig - 15 gallons are pumped into the tank before the pump malfunctions and the total cost for the 15 gallons of diesel $9.50. That makes it 63 cents a gallon. The movie was made in 1986. Was diesel fuel or gas for that matter that cheap in 1986? It's hard to believe now..........
