The Christmas season is fast approaching and it's time to send for those catalogs you can't live without at Christmas. The one catalog that usually sets off my holiday spirit is the Swiss Colony Catalog. I have been receiving that one for as long as I have been living out of my parents house. Of course the Sears Wishbook was another catalog that was a must have at Christmas. I have included a long list of catalogs as well as a link to a catalog site, CyberCatalogs.com that has a large list of catalogs I don't have listed here.
As a special treat I'm also including a website that has copies of all the old Sears Wishbooks, JC Penneys, Montgomery Wards and Spiegel Christmas catalogs, plus other Christmas catalogs that were popular in their time. You can look through each one online and remember the long Christmas lists of toys you made for Santa each year. I actually think I recognized the cover on the 1966 Sears Wishbook. If you are looking for a catalog that's not included in my list or the list at CyberCatalogs.com just let me know. I bet I can find it!

The Neiman Marcus Christmas Book is not a free catalog. They charge you $15.00 for it. However you can look at it online for free. I've included the link so you can take a look. On page 44-45 they are offering the Neiman Marcus 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible for $75,000.00 (There's a limited number available so you better hurry and order!). If muscle cars aren't your cup of tea and prefer something say...on the sweet side. They also have a Edible Gingerbread Playhouse for $15,000.00. What child wouldn't want one of those? They do offer free shipping of any price item with code FALLNM. If you have the time you should check this Christmas Book out. There's some really nice items in it. Unfortunately they come with Neiman Marcus prices.

Free 2011 Calendars
I never, ever pay for calendars. I don't think I've bought one in the last 10 years. This is the beginning list for 2011. I will post more as they become available but it won't hurt to go ahead and sign up for those you want now so you'll be sure to get them. The calendars usually ship in December. I have signed up for all of these except for the "student" calendar. The ones I don't use I share with family and friends so they don't go to waste.

It Smells Like Sweet Corn! It's Absorbent. It Clumps and It's My New Best Friend!
I was desperate. Why you may ask? My handsome boy Nick the King of Cats has gotten on up in years now. His kidneys are not what they use to be. Although he always uses the litter box, he goes a lot. I don't mean a lot as in often. I mean a lot as in the amount he puts into the litter box. Urination ... who would have thought I would be spending my Friday morning talking about cat pee. It's something that I had to do because I tried this great new product this week and I have to tell you, I'm loving it. The best part ... so are my cats. Yep, I have more than one. My other kitty is a sweet girl named Cali. She used to be nick-named Bitchy Kitty but that's another blog post.
I was originally using an old fashion non clumping clay litter that I would change every other day. It worked pretty good but not as great since Nick was going more. So I was changing it everyday. That was just a lot of work. Plus the clay litter was so awfully heavy, dry or wet. I thought I would use the clumping clay litter. I had used it along time ago but just didn't fall in love with it then and it's a lot more expensive than the plain kind. Ask anyone that knows me. I'm always looking for ways to get it cheaper ... free if possible. The clumping litter would turn to cement when it got wet and I would have to almost chisel it out of the box when it came time to scoop which I was having to do twice a day. Talk about a lot of work! The worst part was how it would stick to Nick's back paws and get between his toes. It was almost impossible for me to get off. I don't know how much Nick tried to get off himself by licking and ingested. It's scary to think how unhealthy that was. There had to be something better out there.
I spent hours on the internet searching. I'd find something that seemed promising and but then the reviews wouldn't be that great or the cost was crazy expensive. I also take reviews with a grain of salt though. I know most people don't even bother to review something unless they are dissatisfied in some way. It's a way to vent about the problem. I have done that myself but as I've gotten older I will now praise a product to everyone I know if does what I bought it to do. I decided on one and went in search of it. I found it at "Tractor Supply". Tractor Supply has a super great pet department and I highly recommend anyone with pets check it out before you drive to PetSmart. Their prices are very competetive too.
The cat litter that has me so eager to tell others about is
"Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural Clumping Litter". It's formulated with a proprietary blend of natural biodegradable corn fibers that combine with Arm & Hammer Baking Soda to effectively absorb urine and eliminate odors instantly. Essentials Natural Clumping Litter absorbs 2 times as much liquid as clumping clay litter, and has a softer footing for cat’s comfort. There's no clay dust and even after the cat's pee there is no urine odor. The litter smells the same before and after. It's a light, sweet corn smell. Most of the people that know me, know how sensitive I am to fragrances. I have no problems with this at all. I still have to scoop twice a day but it's so much easier. The clumps lift easily and they don't seem as large. My cats didn't have a problem with the transition from clay to corn fibers either. I'm sure both cats are using it because I've seen them, plus there's the clumps, urine and you know ... the other stuff. (Just trying to be delicate here.) I haven't seen any of the litter clinging to the cats' paws yet but if it does and they lick it off, it won't hurt them.
Give this litter a try. I bet you won't be disappointed!
